So even if On Spec did not win a Hugo award last weekend, we were thrilled to be on the final ballot for our final year of publishing. Congratulations to all the winners, especially Canada’s own Amal El-Mohtar for The River Has Roots in the Best Novella category.  Elis Montgomery, who has had poetry in On Spec, won the Hugo for the best poem, “Hex Supply Customer Support Log” . 

Coming up soon is Can*Con in Ottawa next month, where Ed Willett is launching the next generation in the On Spec universe, On Spec 2026: New Canadian Literature of the Fantastic.  We are happy the name will live on.
