On Spec depends on the ongoing support of our readers, and the best way to show this support is by subscribing. Your subscription to On Spec will have a copy of the newest issue arrive in your mailbox soon after it’s delivered from the printer.

Single Print Issues

Direct Orders

We sell single print copies of our current  issue while supplies last. Single issues are available for delivery at the following rates:

  • In Canada: CDN $6.95 current issues + $3 shipping
  • In the USA: US $6.95 current issues + $5 shipping
  • International: US $6.95 current issues + $10 shipping

Please email us at onspecmag(at) to order a single issue. We will contact you with a total to submit via PayPal, and ship your order with 6-8 business days on receipt of payment. Please note: if you are in the US or International, we highly recommend selecting one of our digital options, as shown above.


Make a monthly donation to On Spec through Patreon

If you set up a $5 / month or higher donation to On Spec through our Patreon page, we’ll start your subscription to On Spec in print or digital format, whichever you prefer. This means you can stop worrying about expiring subscriptions, and it gives us a steady revenue source to be able to make long-term planning.

Use your PayPal account to send a payment directly to us at onspecmag(at) with the amount for your desired subscription. See chart at the top of this page for amounts. 

Then send us an email to confirm the details of the order, like your full name and address. 

If the order is for a Gift, make sure that you include this information in the Comments when you order. 

Please note that the high costs of postage needed to send On Spec to destinations outside Canada, compels us to increase our subscription prices to US and International subscribers. You might consider getting the digital version, which saves time and money.

Weightless Books provides subscription and single copy sales for On Spec and many other well-regarded SF books and magazines. Subscriptions are four issues per year, available in MOBI, EPUB, and PDF formats. You can buy a single issue of On Spec, in case you just want a sample.

We are now available on Ko-fi, where interested folks can purchase a digital copy of an issue, and make a single or monthly donation to help support us.
