It’s with profound sadness that On Spec announces the passing of Lorna Toolis, after a brief battle with cancer. As the head librarian at Toronto’s Merrill Collection for more than 30 years, Lorna helped build a world class collection of Science Fiction and Fantasy. Her contributions to the genre and her fight to give Canadian SF the respectability it earned will live on for many years after we are all gone. She was a great resource for many scholars to do their research, and above all, Lorna was a dear friend and mentor to many, including myself.
Our deepest condolences to her husband, Michael Skeet, and to the members of her family.
I will miss her.
